Rex

Rex Vet

Rex is a four-year-old Manchester Terrier. Here is what we know about Rex: He was an owner surrender (they got him from Craigslist a year and a half ago), he was taken to the Humane Society where he did not pass their evaluation, and Rex was not going to be put up for adoption.

Rex is staying in a foster home with multiple other dogs, cats, kids and chickens. He does not like having his feet or ears touched. He is funny about collars and things that go over his head. His foster family is lovingly trying to get Rex to trust them enough to accept these things. They try to desensitize him when he is relaxed. They practice putting things on and taking them off. He goes to the park daily for walks and enjoys lying by the fire. Rex really likes children and rides in the car.

Rex will be looking for a home with relaxed but experienced dog handlers. He is a noisy (likes to talk) boy with far more bark than bite. Because of his quirks about touching certain areas he will be looking for a home with older (10 and up) children. In spite of his slightly odd nature, he is perfectly trained and very obedient; he knows all of his commands.

Second Chance Salem provides Rex’s foster family with all his food, vet care, probiotics, and bed, toys, and crate and flea treatment. As soon as we can get Rex to tolerate his nails trimmed and get him microchipped, he will be available for adoption. Rex has been in foster care for 6 weeks.

Update: Rex was lovingly adopted and enjoys going to the beach with his parents and fur brother.
